Shipping Terms and Conditions

Domestic Shipping

Shipping is, by default, through the United States Postal Service. Other shipping services may be selected at check out, if available. Actual shipping charges are a calculation based on the carrier selected. Rarely, actual cost may be more than what is calculated, for which an invoice will be sent.

Shipping Insurance

Shipping insurance through Shipsurance is available at an additional cost. This may be added to the cart on the "cart page." There are three options for insurance: orders up to $99, orders $100-$199, and orders $200+. The customer must select the insurance applicable to their order. Insruance will be obtained for the total of the order, or the highest amount insured by the customer, whichever is less. Orders may not be over insured.

Shipping insurance is highly suggested in this day and age. RockSolid Scales cannot be responsible for damaged, lost or stolen items once the item is transferred to the shipping company. Shipping insurance covers loss and damage that occurs while the product is in possession of the shipping company, but is not guaranteed to cover theft, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure a safe drop off location is chosen upon checkout.

Shipping damage

RockSolid Scales cannot be responsible for damage that occurs in shipping. It is unlikely that damage would occurs. In the event that shipping damage occurs: DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGE, if receiving the package from the shipping company, refuse the package based on the damage. If the package has been dropped off, do not move the package, take pictures of the product and the package where it lies, and notify RockSolid Scales (rocksolidscales@gmail.com).

All attempts to replace the damaged items will be made, though with the unique nature of the items for sale, it is unlikley there will be a direct replacement. A shipping insurance claim will be submitted, if shipping insurance was purchased at the time of the order.

International Shipping

Due to variables outside of the control of RockSolid Scales, international shipping times cannot be guaranteed. International shipping from RockSolid Scales begins as United States Postal Service (USPS) shipping, as such, tracking information may or may not be available once USPS hands packages off to the international shipping company.

International Shipping Insurance

As of 7/2020, due to shipping uncertainty in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, shipping insurance is required on all international shipments. This is included in the shipping rate at a 5% surcharge. Insurance will be obtained when RockSolid Scales ships at a rate of no more and no less than 100% the amount of the products in the order.

Buy Now - Ship Later

As of 10/2020, RockSolid Scales is offering a new shipping option for international customers. This is the "Buy Now, Ship Later" option. This is not free shipping! This option shows up as "Free Shipping," it is simply no charge at the time of checkout.

This option allows international customers to buy the products they want, then have RockSolid Scales hold these products until a USPS Small Flat Rate Box (SFRB) is filled (typically 5-7 sets of scales will fit in this box). Once the SFRB is full, the international customer will be invoiced for the actual shipping cost, plus insurance cost. Products will not be shipped until the invoice and order is paid in full.

If the international customer desires to have a larger amount held, please send an email inquiry to rocksolidscales@gmail.com. Maximum amount of products held will not exceed what can be shipped in a USPS Medium Flat Rate Box (MFRB).

Cancellations and Returns

Cancellations of international orders will be assessed a 30% re-stocking fee. Returns will be accepted without a re-stocking fee, customer is responsible for all shipping fees assessed on returns and any damages that may have occurred in shipping. For return authorization, email rocksolidscales@gmail.com.

Customs Charges and Duties

All customs charges, duties, taxes, tarrifs or other fees assessed through the shipping process are the full responsibility of the customer. All attempts are made to minimize these fees and to predict these fees, however with the ever changing laws and tarrifs, RockSolid Scales cannot predict such things and will not be held responsible for these fees, or for products that are delayed or not delivered on account of these fees.
